The Quebec Election and Referendum Act provides for the possibility of requesting the Court to recount ballots following an initial count. Ten requests for recounts were submitted to the Court following the general election on November 2. To date, the Court has granted seven recounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The recount process began on November 13 at the Montreal Courthouse. The initial recounts led to a new examination of the ballots for the election of borough<\/span> councilors for the Jacques-Bizard district (Judge Yves Hamel), city councilors for the Côte-des-Neiges district (Judge Gilles Lareau), and city councilors for the Saint-Jacques district (Judge Scott Hugues). <\/p>\n\n\n\n Closely supervised by the Court of Quebec, this procedure confirmed the plurality of votes announced by Elections Montreal following the election. The three elected individuals were sworn into office on November 13 in the early evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
